Raejean Kanter
Raajean Kanter is a well-known philanthropist, community leader, and mentor. Reajean believes that understanding different cultures and customs can create a more inclusive and diverse society.
​
In her book series, Grandma Book's World, Raejean combines two of her passions: love of children and travel. A grandmother of eight, Raejean has traveled to over fifty countries in the world. The mission of the series is to help young children and parents learn about other cultures to foster a greater understanding of inclusion.
Ms. Kanter has a BBA from St. Norbert College and an MEd from Cardinal Stritch University, where she received distinguished alumni awards for her community service. She is the recipient of the Milwaukee BizTimes Lifetime Achievement Award in Philanthropy and has been recognized by numerous foundations and organizations for her over 60-year effort to build a more understanding and caring world.

In her spare time, Raejean loves creating memories with her husband and family and playing Mrs. Clause during the Holiday season.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATORS
Ily Phelps is a designer & illustrator based in Nashville, Tennessee. She is inspired by repetitive rhythm, warm days, organic shapes, and colors of a summer sunset. She earned her BFA in Graphic Design at Watkins College of Art, Design, & Film. When she is not creating, she is daydreaming & exploring the beautiful world around her; finding appriciation in the little joys of life.

For over 30 years, Rick Eshbaugh has been an illustrator and animator in southeastern Wisconsin. He has a great curiosity about the world around him and has always enjoyed children’s literature.
Rick and his wife, a teacher, have two adult children who also love children’s books. This is the first book Rick has illustrated and he looks forward to sharing his art with young readers.

GRANDMA BOOK IN THE PRESS

Theresa Dodson-Nemetz was honored with the BizTimes 2022 regional spirit award on December 8. Author Raejean Kanter, and fellow "Who Held The Door Open" contributor, Rhonda Ronsman, were both in attendance. Theresa credited Raejean with providing true mentorship when Theresa began her business, and during the pandemic.
